Nwobodo's Son's Corpse missing. Burial postponed.
Nwobodo’s Son’s Corpse Missing
The burial of the late Dr Ifeanyichukwu
Nwobodo, the first son of former civilian
governor of old Anambra State, Chief
Jim Ifeanyichukwu Nwobodo, scheduled
to hold yesterday in Enugu State was
aborted following the disappearance of
the deceased’s corpse, LEADERSHIP
Weekend gathered.
It was gathered that the two younger
brothers of the deceased (Chukwudi and
Uso) kept the corpse away from the
reach of anybody when it became
apparent that the former governor
wanted the remains of his late son to be
interred within the compound of a new
bungalow he built in honour of his first
son who died on November 14, 2014.
It was also gathered that Chukwudi and
Uso, Jim’s surviving two sons from
Mukosolu, his first wife, argued that if
their elder brother was buried outside
their father’s expansive house at
Amaechi Awkunanaw, they would be
denied the right to inherit the family
house.
Several dignitaries including the deputy
senate president, Ike Ekweremadu,
Senator Gil Nnaji, Dr Nnia Nwodo and
former governor of Anambra State, Mr
Peter Obi, who came to commiserate
with Chief Nwobodo left after failing to
broker peace between the chief mourner
and his two sons.
As at the time of filing in this report late
yesterday, the duo of Chukwudi and Uso
were yet to resolve the nagging issue of
the appropriate place to inter the
remains of the late Ifeanyichukwu
Nwobodo jnr.
It was gathered that before yesterday’s
incident, concerned elders of Amaechi
Awkunanaw community had pleaded
with the Nwobodos to resolve their
differences to no avail.
When Chief Nwobodo reportedly
concluded plans to bury his late son
outside the family compound, Chukwudi
and Uso drove to the mortuary and
removed the corpse of their late brother
to an unknown place.

Chelsea eye new record!
Jose Mourinho described Chelsea’s season as perfect
during the week and it is hard to argue with his review.
The Blues travel north to Newcastle having equalled a club
record of 23 games unbeaten in all competitions on
Wednesday and will break new ground should they avoid
defeat at St James’ Park.
Mourinho would love nothing more than to equal his old
foe Arsene Wenger’s achievement of going through a
whole Premier League campaign undefeated, though he
will be wary of his poor record on Tyneside.
In four previous trips to St James’ Park in the Premier
League, he has never tasted victory (D2 L2). A first win at
the ground on Saturday will have Chelsea fans dreaming of
reaching May with an unblemished record.

Zimbabwe's Mugabe anger over Joyce Mujuru ' death plot'
Robert Mugabe told delegates he welcomed the fact that
his wife had exposed his deputy's plot
Zimbabwe's president has spoken of his anger that his
embattled deputy Joyce Mujuru allegedly plotted to
assassinate him and accused her of being a thief.
Speaking at the ruling Zanu-PF party's congress, Robert
Mugabe said he would act against all corrupt officials.
Mrs Mujuru's absence from the congress showed she was
"scared", he added.
Recently expelled Zanu-PF member Rugare Gumbo told
the BBC the 90-year-old leader had "completely" turned
the party into his "personal property".
Mr Mugabe had targeted Mrs Mujuru to advance the
"fortunes" of his wife Grace, the former Zanu-PF
spokesman added.
Mrs Mujuru, who has previously denied the allegations, had
been seen as a potential successor to Mr Mugabe, with
whom she fought for Zimbabwe's independence from
white-minority rule.
Many Zanu-PF members are still fiercely loyal to Mr
Mugabe
Thousands of delegates attended the congress
However, her career ran into trouble when Mrs Mugabe
entered into politics this year, and accused her of plotting
against her husband.
The congress, being held in the capital Harare, is expected
to elect the first lady as the head of Zanu-PF's women's
wing.
'Bribing delegates'
Mr Mugabe, who has ruled Zimbabwe since independence
in 1980, will remain as Zanu-PF leader.
He told thousands of delegates that he welcomed the fact
that his wife had exposed Mrs Mujuru's attempt to oust
him.
"Thieves never succeed... look at all the transgressions.
Her corruption is now exposed," Mr Mugabe said.
Lebanon holding IS leader's daughter and ex-wife.
Lebanon said the woman in detention had been married to
Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for three months
DNA tests confirm Lebanon is holding the young
daughter of Islamic State (IS) leader Abu Bakr al-
Baghdadi, the country's interior minister says.
Nohad Machnouk told Lebanon's MTV television that the
child's mother, who is also in custody, was now believed
to be one of Baghdadi's ex-wives.
On Tuesday, Lebanese security officials said they had
detained his wife and son at a border crossing with Syria.
But Iraq's government later insisted the woman was not
married to Baghdadi.
It said the woman - identified as Saja al-Dulaimi - was the
daughter of an active member of al-Qaeda's affiliate in
Syria, al-Nusra Front.
She is also thought to have been detained by the Syrian
authorities before being freed in March as part of a prisoner
exchange with al-Nusra.
Pregnant
Late on Wednesday, Mr Machnouk told MTV that Ms
Dulaimi had been travelling with two sons and a daughter
when they were detained by the army two weeks ago.
"Dulaimi is not Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi's wife currently. She
has been married three times: first to a man from the
former Iraqi regime, with whom she had two sons," he
said.
"Six years ago she married Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi for three
months, and she had a daughter with him. Now, she is
married to a Palestinian and she is pregnant with his
child."
The minister added: "We conducted DNA tests on her and
the daughter, which showed she was the mother of the
girl, and that the girl is [Baghdadi's] daughter, based on
DNA from Baghdadi from Iraq."
It is not clear how the Iraqi authorities have the IS leader's
DNA. However, in 2005 he was arrested by US forces in
Iraq and spent the next four years a prisoner at Camp
Bucca, near the southern town of Um Qasr, before being
handed over to the Iraqi authorities and then released.
Mr Machnouk said Ms Dulaimi's children were staying at a
care centre while she was being interrogated at the defence
ministry's headquarters.
IS has not commented on their detention, but al-Nusra has
condemned it.
One Lebanese official has said it is a "powerful card to
apply pressure" in negotiations with IS and al-Nusra, who
are holding more than 20 Lebanese soldiers and police
hostage. They are threatening to kill them unless militants
are freed from Lebanese jails.

Nigeria to get N88.7bn Abacha loot from the state of New Jersey.
The loot of late dictator General Sani Abacha still
remain in parts in several states around the world,
despite the fact that Nigeria has already recovered over
$1 billion. The new sum expected is about N88.7
billion.
State of Jersey, the biggest territory in the Channels
Island, is set to return £315 million Abacha loot to
Nigeria. The Island state had previously been returned
to Nigeria in two tranches £140 million of the loot.
Micheal Birt, the Ballif of Jersey, disclosed this at a
dinner in honour of Dr Dalhatu Tafida, Nigerian High
Commissioner to the UK during a state visit to the
Island.
Birt, who doubles as the Island’s Civic Head of State
and ceremonial head, is the highest ranking official in
the Jersey order of precedence.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the
money was laundered on behalf of Abacha by Mr Raj
Bhojwani, an Indian businessman, who is currently
serving an eight-year sentence in a UK prison.
Birt said that the decision of the State to return the
loot was in line with ongoing campaign against money
laundering. The Island is known globally for its
transparent banking services, but the perception that it
is safe for money laundering is building up.
“We have done a lot to clean up the image of the
Island as a safe haven for stolen wealth. What we have
in place is a transparent and legal finance heaven
where only legal funds can be deposited and accessed
by investors.”
Tafida commended Birt for the Island’s transparent
banking sector, and informed them of government’s
commitment to fighting corruption and strengthening
its anti-graft agencies.
He also emphasized Nigeria’s impressive economic
growth and high return on investment rate.
“The array of investment opportunities that abound in
the country and generous incentives available to
investors in all sectors of the economy, has continued
to make it a global investment destination,” Tafida
said.

Kenya president Uhuru Keyatta Vows War on Al-Shabaab.
The president called on Kenyans to pull together
Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta has said "we will not
flinch" in the war against Islamist group al-Shabab after a
massacre near the Somali border.
"This is a war against Kenya and Kenyans," he said on
national TV. "It is a war that every one of us must fight."
Kenya's police chief, David Kimayo, and Interior Minister
Ole Lenku are being replaced.
Al-Shabab earlier killed 36 quarry workers in the Mandera
region.
The group attacked the workers around midnight on
Monday as they slept in tents at the quarry in Kormey,
15km (nine miles) from the north-eastern town of Mandera.
The non-Muslim workers were shot dead after being
separated from the Muslims.
A driver who visited the scene of the attack, Ali Sheikh
Yusuf, told the BBC most of the victims appeared to have
been lined up, and shot in the head, at close range.
He said four were beheaded inside their tents, while three
appeared to have escaped to Mandera town.
Al-Shabab has stepped up its campaign in Kenya since
2011, when Kenya sent troops across the border to help
battle the militants.
Only last week, al-Shabab killed 28 people in an attack on
a bus targeting non-Muslims in the same area.
In one of the worst attacks on Kenyan soil, 67 people were
killed last year when four gunmen took over the Westgate
shopping mall in Nairobi.
In recent months, dozens of people have been killed in a
series of shooting attacks in coastal districts.
The security situation has led to calls from the opposition
and some in the governing party for the dismissal of
Interior Minister Joseph Ole Lenku and police chief David
Kimaiyo.
Hundreds of people sought refuge at a military airstrip in
the Mandera region last week, fearing a fresh assault by al-
Shabab.
Breaking news: Again 38 Christians killed by Al-shabaad in Kenya.
MANDERA COUNTY: At least 38 quarry workers were
Tuesday killed by suspected Al-Shabaab militants in
an attack Koromei area, Mandera County. The
workers were ambushed as at the site as they slept
by gunmen believed to be the militants and killed by
shooting.
Others were decapitated by the attackers. Other
reports say the attackers kidnapped some of the
workers. All the victims are non-Muslims. Those who
were Muslims were separated from Christians. Police
confirmed the deaths and added they were yet to
know the motive. The attack came hours after another
group launched an attack on a club in Wajir that left
one person dead and 13 wounded.
Police boss David Kimaiyo confirmed the attack and
said the attackers escaped. “We have the reports of
quarry workers being killed but we will give you more
and detailed information,” he said. Last week, 28
people, mostly teachers were shot dead after the
militants hijacked their bus in Mandera County.

Obama's Daughters attacker Resigns and apologises
A Republican Congressional staff member, Elizabeth
Lauten, has resigned after accusing US President
Barack Obama’s daughters of lacking class. BBC has
more:
Elizabeth Lauten, communications director
for congressman Stephen Fincher, gave up
her post on Monday.
Ms Lauten earlier criticised Sasha and Malia
Obama on Facebook following their
appearance in short skirts at a Thanksgiving
ceremony.
She later took down the post and
apologised for her “hurtful words”.
Ms Lauten had also accused the two
teenagers of looking bored when they stood
with their father at a traditional turkey
pardoning event at the White House.
While most commentators reported
humorously on what they saw as the
uninterested expressions of Malia, 16, and
Sasha, 13, throughout the ceremony, Ms
Lauten was notably more outspoken.
Her deleted post reads: “Dear Sasha and
Malia: I get you’re both in those awful teen
years, but you’re a part of the First Family,
try showing a little class. At least respect
the part you play.

Many feared dead as insurgents assail security formations.
Multiple explosions suspected to be Improvised Explosive
Devices (IEDs) has rocked Damaturu, the Yobe State
capital while sporadic gunshots engulfed the city of
troubled Maiduguri on Monday morning living many
residents trapped in their houses for fear of their lives.
Damaturu is 135 km West of Maiduguri, Borno State
capital.
This is even as another attack at Lassa town of Askira/Uba
local government area of Borno state over the week end left
11 residents dead with Churches including the biggest
EYN church and many houses burnt down by the Boko
Haram sect.
Sources also said during the Lassa attacks, youth vigilante
of the area confronted the sect this led to the killing of 41
Boko Haram members and capture of 17.
The fresh morning attack of Today (Monday) which started
at about 6am in Damaturu by terrorists were targeted at
police and military formations as well as selected houses, a
situation that sources said left many people dead.
Reliable source told our Correspondent that “the Police
Mobile Base in Damaturu was one of the security
formations that came under attack by insurgents”.
“As I am talking to you now, we are in serious confusion
now, gunshots and explosions everywhere especially from
the southern part of the city and people are fleeing,” said
an embattled resident, Mallam Usmanu Iliya.
Another resident who did not want his name mentioned for
security reasons said he was woken up by the gunshots
and blast which started at about 6am, and he suspects
Boko Haram may be attacking.
Another resident who could barely speak as he was panting
simply told our reporter that “We are running for our
lives…we are under attack… We don’t know where to
hide, the shooting is all over….”.
Although, as at press time, the attacks and confrontations
by security operatives in Damaturu is still continuing, the
actual casualty figure is yet to be ascertained.
Likewise, the sporadic gunshots that woke the residents of
Maiduguri according to military sources “were not from
Boko Haram sect, but a routine test of arms and
ammunitions by security operatives in the state”. Even
though, the development puts more fear on the minds of
parents send their children to schools, while those who
normally go out for work early in the morning could not do
so.
Meanwhile, residents of Lassa over the week end
reportedly resisted the attack on its community by
engaging the attackers with locally made guns, bows and
arrows.
Lassa is predominantly a Christian community in Askira
Uba council area of Borno state which is under control of
Boko Haram sect.
Ali Mamza, a resident of Lassa town and member of the
local vigilante group told reporters that,“If we flee today,
tomorrow we will continue to flee and these murderer
would continue to kill. If we had fled they would have
killed many people. I think our decision to fight yielded as
it is better that few people were killed than for hundred to
be killed. We will continue to encourage ourselves,
because they would keep coming, we cannot run any
longer.” He said.
