AT least, 10 persons were on Saturday night killed by
unknown gunmen who attacked the Tattaura village in the
Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
Tattaura is a community in Ancha District of Ninzo
Chiefdom in the southern part of the state. The village is
two kilometres east of Gwantu, the council headquarters.
Eyewitnesses said five others sustained serious injuries and
were rushed to the Akwanga General Hospital in Nasarawa
State.
The attack on Tattaura reportedly started at about
10.00pm on Saturday night, shortly after the community
celebrated Christmas with fanfare. It was learnt that the
community usually organise dances amongst children,
youths and the aged during the yuletide in the area.
Acting Chairman of the council, Alhaji Nasiru Harande,
confirmed the attack, which he described as “unfortunate.”
He said the attackers “came, shot and flee” to an
unknown destination and that “10 people were killed while
five injured are receiving treatment in a general hospital in
Akwanga.”
Harande however said normalcy had returned to the
community.
Mike Sanga, a community leader from the area, said the
attack took place in a shop where some men were relaxing
after a hectic dance.
He said, “Our community is about three kilometres to
Nandu – Ankpong where 19 people were killed in June,
this year. We identify the people killed to be Joel Ambo, a
primary school teacher; Yakubu Ambi, Yamu Idzi, Anche
Ishaku and Misalai Ngbo.
“Others are, Ishaya Anche, Monday Samson, Joel Anzah,
Jonathan Anche and one P – Square that visited from
Randa community.”
Another resident, Mr. Benard Tattaura said the mystery
behind the incessant raid on the community was still
unknown to the people of the area and asked the
government to fish out the attackers.
“If the government did not arrest these frequent attacks,
we are finished,” he noted.
As of the time of this report, arrangements were being
made to bury the victims.
The Kaduna State Police Command was yet to issue an
official statement on the attack and the command’s
spokesman, Aminu Lawan, was not available to confirm
and give more details about the attack.
